TWISTING WIRES BECAME A HOBBY…

Twisting wires became a hobby about ten years ago, but I have always had an interest in sculpting and creating different things with various methods, materials, and tools. I find it helps to ease my anxiety and take my mind off of things that may be bothering me.

I slowly twisted a scorpion with galvanized wire over the course of a terrible year I was having. It would sit there looking at me through all of its phases of being screaming, “FINISH ME ALREADY!”. It was a good distraction from some heavy life altering issues I was experiencing when I was motivated enough to work on it. I’ve been lugging that scorpion around with me for about a decade, long enough to feel as though it’s my pet.

The flower the scorpion is holding is something I twisted more recently while dealing with a lot of stress and craving to revive my interest in art. Once again, it was a good distraction.

It can be a painful hobby. I can’t count how many times I was pricked and bled, especially with the scorpion. I feel as though I literally do put my blood, sweat, and tears into these things, but I enjoy it.
